Consciousness is a mere film between two oceans, the
subconscious and the superconscious.
Swami Vivekananda
We know about our conscious mind, the subconscious and super conscious minds are beyond our awareness, like the lower frequencies of light below red and higher frequencies of light beyond ultra violet respectively. We have some awareness of the subconscious mind though when we are in a dream like state but in deep sleep or Shushupti we have no awareness,Superconsciousness sounds like magic to us.If we become superconscious we become conscious of it.For that we need to act on the conscious mind with four elements a) (Chitta) awareness b) (Mana) thinking c) (Budhi) Intellect and d) (Ahankar) Ego.
There are 5 mental states broadly a) idiotic seeking bodily comfort b) Fickle c) Worldly wise d) Wise in real sense and e) Blissful .Mind acquires the charecteristics of whatever it focuses on, more like a liquid acquiring the shape of the vessel it is stored in. In that sense the body is like a solid, the mind is like a liquid and the soul is like gas. The mind is sandwiched between body and soul and is an inter-loquator between the two. So when the characteristics of the body is conveyed to the soul it becomes gross on the other hand when it conveys messages from the soul to the body it is charged up and becomes joyful. In Shushupti too if we remain awakened we carry message from the soul to our body and this is the fourth stage known as Turiya or supercoscious state. This requires desireless action, practice and renunciation, in this state the awareness becomes still, the thinking becomes purified, the intellect becomes wisdom and ego gets sublimated in the universal self.
